New Brand Identity for Telefónica

Telefónica, a new line for an iconic brand.

Established in 1924, Telefónica is a Spanish multinational telecommunications company and one of the largest telephone operators and mobile network providers in the world. Headquartered in Madrid, the company offers fixed and mobile connectivity as well as a wide range of digital services for more than 337 million residential and business customers in Spain, UK (O2), Germany (O2), Mexico (Movistar), Brazil (Vivo), and almost all of South America (Telefónica and Movistar).

The logo is made up of five circles that, as in the case of its predecessor, make up the letter ‘T’, which is Telefónica’s distinctive. Its use will be extended to areas that use the Telefónica brand, such as Telefónica Tech, Telefónica Empresas or Fundación Telefónica.

Hopefully, this emblem is properly legally checked and does not clash with those other T's - in the same sector.

Remarkable fact: The first transatlantic telephone call, between Spanish King Alfonso XIII and US President Calvin Coolidge, was made from the iconic Telefonica building in Madrid. The Netflix series Cable Girls, tells the stories of the switchboard operators who worked in the Telefónica Building during this period. Nowadays, the building is home to the Telefónica Foundation, a four-storey space that holds regular exhibitions and talks, all free to the public, as well as a permanent exhibition on the history of telecommunications.
